Isn't this exactly what osFree is duing today ?
Although they do not speak a lot on this list, looking at
http://www.osfree.org
seems they have started the microkernel approch.
>Thus will others on this list take time to respond with their opinions?
I'm mostly lurking.... but
another alternative have been started in Russia - creating a clone
of the current OS/2 SMP kernel.
The loader have already been done (on hobbes), and they say first
public beta of kernel should be ready in september.
I have never been a member of freeOS list - so I have no idea,
if that is alive, and for what purpose.

As it seems there are no others, who want to be
moderator, I will now create a poll, so the members
of this group can decide, if you want one of the
candidates as moderator, or no new moderator.

Hello, All.
While you plays with mailing list, pls, think about join to osFree
development. At the present time only few active developers. Having so
small amount of resources we will wait for real release very long
time. Actually, we have different areas for development. Starting from
the loader and ending with WPS.

Aside from the fact that the poll lists me as "lynnmaxon" instead of
"lynnmaxson", the "son of max", I do believe that we should eliminate
spam if we have the choice.
As a member of SCOUG (Southern California OS/2 User Group) our
Programming SIG has taken a somewhat different approach. We seek to
improve the tools by reducing them to a single tool, the Developer's
Assistant; a single language, SL/I; and a single source library. All
this based on the Warpicity proposal I made at Warpstock98.
Yuri points out the effect that developer numbers have on the progress
of a project. You have two ways out of this. You can increase the
number of participating developers by increasing the ratio of developers
to users in the open source community. Alternatively you can increase
the productivity in terms of orders of magnitude of the developers you have.
Oddly enough we in the SCOUG Programming SIG believe that our approach
has the ability to do both, increase the number of developers and
significantly (50 times) increase productivity. I think we have the
participants necessary to carry on our development at an acceptable
rate. Thus this is not a solicitation for additional resources.
For those wishing to follow our progress as we evolve to a final product
set, you can subscribe to scoug-programming at the SCOUG website
(www.scoug.com). I in turn will revisit the osfree website to see where
I might best make a contribution even if only in documentation.

I'm really sorry about that mistake, Lynn....
I discovered it 1 minute after I created the Poll, and immediately
went back and edited your name and ID. The announcement email was
however sent automatically by Yahoo with the original wrong names.
When you open the Poll, it should state the correct name.

No problem, Alan, a common mistake. After 36 years with IBM my internal
